Rubber Manufacturers Association Safety Awards
Of the 63 plants selected for the year 2005 by the Rubber Manufacturers Association (RMA) for Safety and Health Improvement Program (SHIP) awards, two plants are operated by LORD Corporation. These plants are located in Erie, Pa. and Cambridge Springs, Pa.
Of the 78 plants selected for the year 2004 by the RMA for SHIP awards, four plants are operated by LORD. The Dayton, Ohio plant earned the distinction in the Excellence category by achieving a Days Away from Work Restricted or Transferred (DART) incidence rate that is 75% better than the average achieved by other plants that provided data to RMA in each Standard Industrial Classification (SIC). LORD Corporation’s Saegertown and Erie, Pa. plants as well as the Bowling Green Ky. plant earned this distinction in the Improvement category for achieving an incidence rate that is both 10% better than its rate in the previous year and the same or better than the RMA average incidence rate for each (SIC) for the current reporting year.
The Saegertown, Pa. plant also earned the distinction in the Excellence category for the year 2002 when the RMA honored 76 other manufacturing plants.

Pennsylvania Governor’s Award
Our manufacturing plant in Cambridge Springs, Pa. exceeded six years without a lost-time accident in 1999. This represented about 3,250,000 work-hours without a lost-time accident. This accomplishment earned the Governor’s Award for Safety Excellence.
National Paint and Coatings Safety Awards
The Saegertown, Pa. plant earned the National Paint and Coatings (NPCA) Safety Award of Commendation for the years 2001 and 2003. This award recognizes the lowest days away from work cases among members in certain size categories.
N.C. Department of Labor & Liberty Mutual Awards
From April 30, 1996 until September 30, 2001 our Technical Center, located in Cary , N.C., experienced no lost workdays. This represented over 2,000,000 work-hours without a lost-time accident. For this accomplishment the N.C. Department of Labor presented LORD a Certificate of Special Recognition; Liberty Mutual commended this achievement as well.
Our Cary, N.C. Technical Center has also received the following safety recognitions: N.C. Department of Labor — For Outstanding Work in Accident Prevention (2001); and Liberty Mutual — Commendable Safety Performance in the Operation of Research Endeavors (January 1-December 31, 1999).
