Advancing Vehicle Performance Levels

Unlike traditional passive suspensions with fixed characteristics, our controllable MR Suspensions react to vehicle and terrain conditions thousands of times per second, allowing the suspension to adapt its characteristics to the situation. This provides improved dynamic stability over passively damped systems.

MR Controller

  • Flexible design; configurable for 4, 6, and 8 damper stations in one, centralized, common box
  • Mil-spec compliant to ground vehicle requirements, including:
    • Mil-Std-1275 for power bus
    • Mil-Std-461 for EMC/EMI
    • Mil-Std-810 for temp and vibe
  • Size: ~10”x8.5”x3.5”
  • Power draw from 28VDC

MR Damper, Shocks

  • Greater than 4 million cycles of durability proven compared to HMMWV passive damper spec of 1 million cycles
  • Semi-active suspension using MR Fluid (fluid changes to near-solid in magnetic field)
  • Provides very fast, variable force: 5 milli-sec.
  • Ultra-low power requirements: <5 amps avg.
