Challenge
4-Star challenged LORD to develop a specialty structural adhesive for their trailer doors that ensures optimal strength.

Solution
LORD Corporation’s bonded doors outperformed welded, taped and riveted doors in every test. With double the impact resistance, the LORD-bonded doors were four time stiffer than 4-Star’s welded doors.

Results
Not only has 4-Star reduced labor by 50 percent, but the switch from rivets, adhesive tape and welding to adhesive bonding also has resulted in materials savings for 4-Star. In addition, the adhesives are a quieter solution, which is important in reducing the stress horses experience during transport.
