Solvent-Based Covercoats
Chemlok solvent-based covercoats consist of pigments and curatives with dissolved polymers in a solvent solution.
Features & Benefits
- Environmental Resistance - Provides excellent salt spray resistance, superior resistance to heat and oils, water, chemicals solvents and corrosive type conditions.
- Easy to Apply - Can be applied by spray, dip, roller coat or brush methods.
- Chemical Resistance - Resists a wide variety of fluids including ethylene glycol, propylene glycol and silicone oils.
- Versatile - Bonds a variety of compounds based on natural rubber, polyisoprene, SBR, polybutadiene, polychloroprene, nitrile, butyl and EPDM polymers to a variety of substrates including grit blasted steel, phosphatized steel, aluminum, brass, nylon and other type substrates.
- Adhere to Textiles - Bonds elastomers to cord and fabric.
- Flexible - Flexible enough to bond uncured to cured or cured to cured rubbers with same or different compositions.
- Ability to Post Bond - Can be used in post vulcanization bonding of cured elastomers to metals.
- One-Coat Application - Can be used, in some cases, as a one-coat or over Chemlok primers.
- Hard Film Characteristics - Resists sweeping.
- Extended Prebake Time - Provides a wide latitude for processing.
- Non-Chlorinated Solvents - Suitable for solvent incinerations.
- Specialty Elastomer Adhesives - Bonds a wide variety of silicone, fluorosilicones, FKM to a variety of substrates. Tolerate temperature extremes of 200°C (400°F) to -51°C (-60°F) when bonding silicones or fluoroelastomers. Easy to apply and dry rapidly. Clear and resist staining or discoloring.
