The customer sought an electrically conductive coating that would provide improved electrical performance and increased yields of their tantalum capacitors.

Solution
A joint development and optimization effort between LORD and the customer successfully provided a silver-filled coating used as an electrical conductor connecting the dielectric layer of their capacitors to the cathode.

Results
The performance of the new coating was optimized by formulating the right combination of adhesion, flexibility, rheology and electrical conductivity into the new product. As a result, the customer was able to realize improved electrical performance along with a more effective application process. The improvements enabled the customer to increase their capacitor yields and reduce overall cost.
