Going Beyond Project Success to Industry Change

(03/09/2010)

Sometimes, a solution merely takes care of the problem at-hand. But every once in a while, that solution revolutionizes the industry. Case in point is Direct Fixation Fastener (DFF) technology – components that hold the rail on wood or concrete sleepers, concrete slabs or slabs floating on cushioned pads. LORD Corporation’s DFF, first used in the 1960s, now has more than two million applications around the world. It has gained acceptance as a cost-effective means to reduce tunnel and aerial structure construction costs, reduce track maintenance as well as stray current and ground-borne vibrations.

Industries respond to cost-effective products that not only reduce vibration but also decrease maintenance, as evidenced by DFFs becoming the industry standard in the transit sector.
