The search for alternative energy sources has resulted in a great interest in wind energy.
Working with a leading wind tower manufacturer, LORD adapted its proven fluid damper technology, which has been used in the aerospace industry for more than a decade, to mitigate bearing failures – a typical challenge experienced with wind turbines. The wind-tower dampers are easy to install, can withstand harsh conditions and eliminate the need for additional maintenance. The damper makes it possible to build taller towers that weigh less, resulting in an overall cost-of-energy reduction of 5 to 12 percent – a reality from which we all benefit.
