In the ever-changing automotive industry, passenger comfort and reduced costs are two of the key objectives for manufacturers. When one of the major automotive OEMs sought a more economical and durable damping device for its mid-size car platforms that would offer enhanced performance over traditional hydraulic dampers, they turned to LORD. Building upon lessons learned in the aerospace industry, we applied our patented Surface-Effect (SE) technology.
Because the SE dampers contain no damping fluid, they cannot leak, and they exhibit consistent performance and durability for the under-hood environment. The OEM benefits from the significant weight reduction of the damper, which in turn reduces costs – all while providing their customers a better passenger experience.
