Halladay and Warren to Present at American Chemical Society Rubber Expo
(09/29/2011)
Jim Halladay, technology fellow, Mechanical Products, and Pat Warren, technology fellow, Chemical Products, will present a paper at the American Chemical Society (ACS) Rubber Expo™, Technical Meeting and Educational Symposium.
The paper, entitled "The Impact of Antiozonants on Rubber-to-Metal Adhesion, Part 2," will be presented at the I-X Center in Cleveland, Ohio on Oct. 12 at 10:45 a.m.
In a previous paper authored by Halladay and Warren, the presence of antiozonants has been shown to have an impact on the adhesion of compounds containing them. This paper continues the investigation into the relationship between the antiozonant level and the quality of adhesion of a natural rubber (NR), polybutadiene (BR) compound to metal. This paper investigates both a conventional high-sulfur cure system and a low-sulfur soluble cure system and includes an evaluation of the environmental robustness of the bond using stressed boiling water testing.
Halladay joined LORD Corporation in 1981 and has 35 years of experience in the rubber industry. Currently, he is a technology fellow specializing in formulating elastomers for dynamic applications. Within LORD, he is responsible for compound and process development of elastomers for applications involving vibration isolation and control. Halladay has authored or co-authored numerous technical papers and holds 15 U.S. patents relating to part designs, coatings, adhesives and rubber formulations. He holds a Bachelor of Science in physics from the University of Kentucky.
Warren has more than 25 years of experience in the field of adhesives and coatings technology at LORD Corporation. He is a technology fellow specializing in the development of adhesives for bonding elastomers to metallic and non-metallic substrates. Warren holds 12 U.S. patents relating to adhesives and holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Lafayette College and a Master of Science in Macromolecular Science from Case Western Reserve University.
