LORD Corporation Develops New Chemlok Adhesives
(04/12/2012)
Two new adhesives specifically designed for the oil and gas industry are now available.
Specially designed for bonding NBR (nitrile rubber) and HNBR (hydrogenated nitrile rubber), LORD Chemlok® adhesives are environmentally resistant and easy to apply. These two new adhesives, LORD Chemlok 6450 and 6451, are covercoat adhesives designed for use over Chemlok 207 primer. An additional advantage is that these new Chemloks use new chemistries that are not CSM based. With capabilities of bonding uncured rubber-to-metal substrates during the vulcanization of the elastomer, LORD Chemlok 6450 and 6451 bond a variety of NBR and HNBR compounds to multiple substrates including aluminum, brass and grit blasted or phosphatized steel when used in combination with Chemlok 207 primer.
According to Karen Sy-Laughner, Industrial Marketing Manager, Americas, at LORD Corporation, "We are excited to offer a family of Chemlok products specific for the NBR and HNBR markets to our customers. We saw the oil and gas industry evolving towards a new breed of nitrile rubbers designed to withstand harsher environments. As leaders in the rubber-to-substrate adhesive market, we wanted to be proactive in developing adhesives that can not only bond these new materials but also perform well in demanding environments."
LORD Chemlok 6450 and 6451 adhesives are specially designed to withstand higher operating temperatures. They resist a variety of fluids including oils and fuels, and aqueous environments, and provide excellent resistance to water, humidity, salt spray and high temperatures.
