New Aqueous Chemlok Primer and Adhesive Provides Performance, Protection

To provide customers a high-performance, environmentally-friendly adhesive option, LORD Corporation now offers a new high performance aqueous primer and covercoat adhesive for bonding during vulcanization to metal.
LORD Chemlok® 8212 adhesive is designed for use over Chemlok 8008 Primer. Chemlok 8008 primer helps to ensure environmental resistance of the bonded assembly and adhesion to the substrate. Chemlok 8212 will bond a variety of elastomers to primed metal during vulcanization.
The environmentally-resistant adhesive provides excellent resistance to hostile environments including salt water and heat. The adhesive and primer are ready to use directly out of the container without dilution and are not prone to settling. The primer is environmentally friendly as well because it is formulated with low VOCs and HAPs for reduced emissions, allowing for a safer work environment and regulatory compliance. It can function for many materials such as steel, phosphated steel, nylon, aluminum and brass.
According to Brett Luketic, Global Market manager, the Chemlok 8008-8212 system was developed to provide customers a high performance, environmentally-friendly adhesive option. Both LORD and customer qualification testing show excellent bond and environmental performance in a wide range of automotive and industrial test conditions.
