Post Vulcanized Bonding For Automotive Suspension Components

LORD Corporation is working closely with customers to support a transition to PV Bonding from mechanical fastening and other similar methods.
Designed for improved performance when a traditional molding operation is not an option, PV bonding has successfully bonded cured rubber to itself or metal for many years. Using Chemlok® or LORD® adhesives in a PV bonding process can improve performance, reduce weight and provide a longer lifespan for improved product performance. This method offers greater product and mold design freedom and can reduce tooling, production and labor costs.
With applications for control arms, tie rods, suspension bars, bushings, engine mounts, torsional dampers, seat components and stabilizer bars, PV bonding can bond large and/or complex parts that don't fit into a press. Further, they eliminate components to reduce vehicle weight.
According to Todd Wallis, Automotive Marketing Manager, Americas, LORD Corporation, PV bonding can save time and money. "We work with customers to develop and supply high-performance adhesives that meet demanding specifications as well as solve difficult problems in automotive design. Severe temperatures, chemical and fluids attack and vibration are just some of the challenging elements our products overcome," said Wallis.
