LORD Corporation to showcase water-based adhesives and speciality coatings at 10th EXPOBOR

LORD Corporation - a global leader in developing rubber-to-metal bonding adhesives for industrial and automotive markets - will showcase its water-based adhesives and specialty coatings at the 10th International Fair of Technology, Machinery and Rubber Artifacts (Expobor).
The event will occur April 11-13 in São Paulo, Brazil.
Used in rubber/substrate adhesion in the automotive industry, LORD Corporation's water-based Chemlok® adhesives do not contain solvents, which are responsible for the emission of volatile organic compounds (VOC). LORD will also showcase its High Performance Coatings (HPC) and Heat Reflective Coatings (HRC), recognized for improving the performance of several types of rubber materials. HPC enables the replacement of more sophisticated elastomers for conventional formulations, which reduces cost. For example, Petrobras uses HPC coatings to protect some parts of the offshore platforms against the ozone. In contrast, HRC allows the heat by radiation to be reflected, thus reducing the working temperature of the artifact and, consequently, increasing its useful life.
"By using the HRC in the exhaust supports, some manufacturers were able to replace silicone rubber for EPDM, which has a lower cost," said Nilson Pavani, LORD Corporation's sales supervisor for the automotive market in Brazil.
LORD has had a presence in Brazil for 40 years. The company has a manufacturing facility and offices in Jundiaí and a plant under construction in Itupeva, scheduled to open in 2014.
