Active Vibration Control Systems (AVCS)
LORD Active Vibration Control Systems (AVCS) are being used to minimize vibration and reduce weight in helicopters. On many helicopters, vibration control treatment is required for safe operation. LORD AVCS provides this feature with improved performance and lower weight when compared to passive treatments
Current Applications:
Light-Weight Active Vibration Control System Allows Hindustan's DHRUV to Fly High
Customer:
Hindustan Aeronautics, Ltd. for its Advanced Light Helicopter, otherwise known as the Indian DHRUV, the world's only helicopter to have flown over the Himalayas and Mount Everest.
Challenge:
LORD was tasked with designing an active vibration control solution to minimize vibration in the fuselage of the 12-passenger, two-crew member aircraft.
Solution:
LORD applied its proven Active Vibration Control System. The technology employs active Frahms to reduce vibration in the fuselage generated by the main rotor and the rotor aerodynamics.
Results:
LORD Corporation's design provides the DHRUV with the unique ability to respond to a variety of factors, depending on the mission. Further, the system weight is less than one percent of the aircraft GW.
