In a continuing effort to provide meaningful savings and value to our customers, LORD is pleased to announce a 5 year / 2500 hour service life warranty for LORD’s 412 hub elastomeric components. The warranty demonstrates LORD’s confidence in service life improvements realized through use of a new and improved elastomer (SPE IIA) which has been incorporated on the Spindle and Pivot Bearings.

SPE IIA has been specifically formulated for helicopter bearing applications. Comparative endurance tests confirm bearings manufactured with the improved elastomer will have significant increase in life. LORD is offering the improved bearings and extended service life warranty at no additional cost to customers.

LORD’s warranty is strategically aligned with Bell’s mandatory hub inspection that occurs at 2,500 hour intervals and covers repaired and overhauled parts for 5 years / 2500 hours, whichever occurs first. Parts that fail within the warranty period, and meet the warranty requirements as highlighted below, are eligible for warranty consideration as follows:

Additional information related to special warranty:

  • Warranty applies to parts manufactured after March 1, 2014. This date corresponds to when the SPEIIA elastomer was fully incorporated on the bearings. Customers can use the “cure date” which is marked on all parts to determine eligibility. NOTE: spindle assemblies manufactured prior to March 1, 2014 continue to be eligible for 5 year / 1000 hour warranty that was announced in January 2015 (ref: Bell Information Letter 412-15-77) only if all elastomeric parts used in the Main Rotor Hub from which the warranted Product was removed and returned to LORD, are LORD parts. Buyer shall provide LORD with sufficient evidence to prove that all elastomeric parts used in the Main Rotor Hub are LORD parts. Failure to provide such evidence shall result in the Enhanced Warranty for the Product being reduced to the standard warranty for such Product, which has a warranty period of (i) one (1) year from the date of shipment of the Product by LORD to Buyer or (ii) 1000 flight hours, whichever occurs first. In the event a defect in workmanship or material in Product sold develops within the Warranty Period as a result of normal, proper and intended use of the Product, LORD agrees to repair or replace, at LORD's option, the defective Product(s) provided that Buyer gives LORD written notice of any such defect, which such notice is received by LORD within the Warranty Period and which describes the defect.
  • This warranty covers damage to the elastomeric element only. Damage to the metallic components, including coatings, is not covered by this warranty. If such damage is found, LORD will provide a quote for metal repairs. If part cannot be repaired, LORD will quote price for an exchange part with any qualifying warranty credit applied.
  • Five year warranty timeline begins when part is shipped from LORD (or an authorized distributor). Customers submitting a claim based on flight hours must have credible system for tracking flight hours for hub components.
  • Turnaround time - Pivot Bearings and Dampers: qualifying parts will be replaced with a repaired/overhauled part which is typically available from stock.
  • Turnaround time - Spindle Bearings: qualifying parts will be repaired, LORD will confirm delivery date after receipt and evaluation of Spindle. As an alternative, part could be replaced on exchange. The exchange option is dependent on availability of spindles (see separate notification regarding LORD’s exchange program).

Warranty Terms:

LORD warrants that the Referenced Products will be free from any defects in workmanship or material. Such warranty shall extend for a period of five (5) years from the date of shipment of the Product by LORD to Buyer (the "Warranty Period") plus 2500 flight hours whichever occurs first. The Enhanced Warranty and its Warranty Period shall apply only if all elastomeric parts used in the Main Rotor Hub from which the warranted Product was removed and returned to LORD, are LORD parts. Buyer shall provide LORD with sufficient evidence to prove that all elastomeric parts used in the Main Rotor Hub are LORD parts. Failure to provide such evidence shall result in the Enhanced Warranty for the Product being reduced to the standard warranty for such Product, which has a warranty period of (i) one (1) year from the date of shipment of the Product by LORD to Buyer or (ii) 1000 flight hours, whichever occurs first. In the event a defect in workmanship or material in Product sold develops within the Warranty Period as a result of normal, proper and intended use of the Product, LORD agrees to repair or replace, at LORD's option, the defective Product(s) provided that Buyer gives LORD written notice of any such defect, which such notice is received by LORD within the Warranty Period and which describes the defect. In the event a defect in workmanship or material in Product sold develops within the Warranty Period as a result of normal, proper and intended use of the Product, LORD agrees to repair or replace, in accordance with the re-imbursement discount structure, the defective Product(s) provided that Buyer gives LORD written notice of any such defect, which such notice is received by LORD within the Warranty Period and which describes the defect. The defective Product(s) shall be delivered to LORD, FOB LORD's facility, at the sole cost and expense of Buyer. REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT OF THE DEFECTIVE PRODUCT(S) IS THE SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDY OF BUYER WITH RESPECT TO ANY DEFECTIVE PRODUCT(S), AND LORD'S LIABILITY UNDER THIS SECTION IS SUBJECT TO THE PARAGRAPH BELOW OF THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS. EXCEPT FOR THE WARRANTY SET FORTH ABOVE, LORD DISCLAIMS ANY AND ALL OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. LORD RESERVES THE RIGHT TO MODIFY OR RETRACT THIS WARRANTY AT ANY TIME.

NOTWITHSTANDING ANYTHING IN THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS TO THE CONTRARY, IN NO EVENT SHALL THE CUMULATIVE LIABILITY OF LORD ARISING OUT OF THE SALE OF PRODUCTS BY LORD TO BUYER UNDER ANY PURCHASE ORDER EXCEED THE AMOUNT PAID BY BUYER TO LORD FOR THE PRODUCTS UNDER SUCH PURCHASE ORDER. LORD SHALL HAVE NO LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE ARISING FROM BUYER'S (i) USE OF A PRODUCT IN A MANNER FOR WHICH IT WAS NOT INTENDED OR (ii) INCORPORATION OF A PRODUCT INTO AN END PRODUCT FOR WHICH IT WAS NOT DESIGNED OR AUTHORIZED FOR USE. IN NO EVENT SHALL EITHER PARTY BE LIABLE TO THE OTHER FOR ANY INDIRECT, SPECIAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES IN CONNECTION WITH THE SALE OF PRODUCTS BY LORD TO BUYER.
