Privacy Statement

LORD Corporation (LORD) has adopted this Data Privacy Policy to ensure that personal data which it maintains is handled with appropriately. Since LORD and its subsidiaries have operations around the world, LORD may need to transfer personal data of its employees and customers across national boundaries.

LORD adheres to the Safe Harbor Privacy Principles issued by the U.S. Department of Commerce (the "Safe Harbor Principles"). In addition, in each country where LORD collects Personal Data, to the extent the laws in a jurisdiction vary from this policy, the subsidiary in such jurisdiction will comply with local requirements.

For the purpose of this Policy, "Personal Data" is data about an identified or identifiable individual, received by LORD in the U.S. from the EU and Switzerland and recorded in any form.


LORD occasionally collects personally identifiable information about customers and suppliers to complete purchase and sale transactions or to provide services. Data collected may include email address, name, home or work address or telephone number. LORD Corporation also collects anonymous demographic information, which is not unique to individuals, such as your postal code, age, gender, preferences, interests and favorites. There is also information about computer hardware and software that is automatically collected by LORD Corporation when individuals access LORD Corporation’s website. This information can include: IP address, browser type, domain names, access times and referring website addresses. This information is used by LORD Corporation for the operation of the service, to maintain quality of the service, and to provide general statistics regarding use of the LORD Corporation website. By using the LORD Corporation website, customers consent to the data practices described in this statement.

When information, such as name, mailing address, email address, and type of request, is collected it may be used and stored by LORD to complete a transaction or provide a customer additional information. Personally identifiable data of customers is not given to any other company for that company's independent use. LORD may employ third-party companies to perform requested services or functions on LORD Corporation's behalf. These companies may require access to personally identifiable data in order to perform their functions, but are not authorized to use it for other purposes.

LORD Corporation also uses customer personally identifiable information to inform customers of other products or services available from LORD Corporation and its affiliates. LORD Corporation does not sell, rent or lease its customer lists to third parties. LORD Corporation may, from time to time, contact customers on behalf of external business partners about a particular offering that may be of interest to those customers. In those cases, unique personally identifiable information (email, name, address, telephone number) is not transferred to the third party. In addition, LORD Corporation may share data with trusted partners to help us perform statistical analysis, send emails or postal mail, provide customer support, or arrange for deliveries. All such third parties are prohibited from using customer personal information except to provide these services to LORD Corporation, and they are required to maintain the confidentiality of customer information. LORD Corporation does not use or disclose sensitive personal information, such as race, religion or political affiliations, without explicit consent.

LORD Corporation keeps track of the websites and pages our customers visit within LORD Corporation, in order to determine what LORD Corporation services are the most popular. This data is used to deliver customized content and advertising within LORD Corporation to customers whose behavior indicates that they are interested in a particular subject area.

LORD Corporation will disclose personally identifiable information, without notice, only if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to the edicts of the law or comply with legal process served on LORD Corporation; (b) protect and defend the rights or property of LORD Corporation; and, (c) act under exigent circumstances to protect the personal safety of LORD Corporation customers, employees, or the public.

LORD Corporation’s website uses cookies to help personalize customers' online experience. A cookie is a text file that is placed on a user's hard disk by a Web page server. Cookies cannot be used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer. Cookies are uniquely assigned to an individual. The purpose of a cookie is to tell the Web server that you have returned to a specific page. For example, if a customer registers with LORD Corporation site or services, a cookie helps LORD Corporation to recall the customer's specific information on subsequent visits. This simplifies the process of recording personal information, such as billing addresses, shipping addresses and so on. Users have the ability to accept or decline cookies.

LORD Corporation secures customer personal information from unauthorized access, use or disclosure. LORD Corporation stores the personally identifiable information you provide on computer servers in a controlled, secure environment, protected from unauthorized access, use or disclosure. When customer personal information (such as a credit card number) is transmitted to other websites, it is protected through the use of encryption, such as the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol.


LORD needs to hold and use information, including Personal Data, concerning its employees in connection with their employment. LORD receives Personal Data of employees in connection with the management and administration of pre-employment, employment and post-employment matters. This includes for example, determining suitability for employment, administration of payroll and benefits plans, monitoring compliance with regulations, company directories and performance monitoring. LORD will use the information for business operations, employee development, administration and planning, or when required in the course of judicial or administrative proceedings, subject to all applicable nondisclosure safeguards.


LORD will strive to ensure that all Personal Data it stores is:

  • processed fairly and lawfully;
  • adequate, relevant and not excessive;
  • accurate and kept up to date;
  • kept for no longer than is necessary; and
  • kept securely.

The Safe Harbor Principles apply to all Personal Data received by LORD in the United States from the European Union (the "EU") and Switzerland in any format. LORD gives its EU and Swiss based employees the opportunity to opt out from allowing LORD to disclose their Personal Data to a third party or to use it for a purpose incompatible with the purpose for which it was originally collected or authorized. To opt out, an EU or Swiss based employee should contact his or her local human resources representative.


LORD may share employee data with third parties that provide services to LORD, including but not limited to outside accountants and lawyers, consultants and other service providers. Prior to transferring Personal Data among LORD Corporation and its subsidiaries, LORD will ensure that the protection and transfer of such Personal Data complies with the Safe Harbor Principles. LORD may transfer Personal Data to a third party acting as an agent for LORD by having the third party enter into an agreement with LORD in which the third party promises to provide the same level of protection as required by the Safe Harbor Principles. If the third party agent does not comply with its privacy obligations, LORD will take commercially reasonable steps to prevent or stop the use or disclosure of Personal Data.


Data will be stored both manually and on computer. LORD takes reasonable measures to protect Personal Data from loss, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration or destruction. These measures include but are not limited to password protection for online information systems and restricted access to Personal Data processed by the Human Resources Department.


LORD will not process Personal Data in a way that is incompatible with the purposes for which it was collected or subsequently authorized by the individual. LORD will take reasonable steps to ensure that Personal Data is relevant for its intended use, accurate, complete and current.


Upon written request, LORD will provide EU and Swiss based employees with reasonable access to Personal Data that it holds about them and will take reasonable steps to permit the employees to correct, amend, or delete any Personal Data which is inaccurate or incomplete. Data access requests should be directed to the employee’s local human resources representative.


Annual internal compliance reviews of the Privacy Policy will take place as part of the certification process with the U.S. Department of Commerce. If a complaint regarding LORD Corporation's use of Personal Data is raised by an employee, LORD will investigate and try to resolve the dispute. If the dispute raised by an EU or Swiss based employee cannot be resolved, LORD will participate in the dispute resolution procedures of the panel established by the European Data Protection Authorities.
