Dr. Delores M. Etter
Dr. Delores Etter has served on the LORD Corporation Board of Directors since 2008.
Etter is a Professor Emeritus in Electrical Engineering at Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas, Texas. During her tenure at SMU, she held the Texas Instruments Distinguished Chair in Engineering Education and was a Distinguished Fellow in the Darwin Deason Institute for Cyber Security. Dr. Etter has also served on the faculties of the U.S. Naval Academy, the University of Colorado at Boulder, and the University of New Mexico. She is a member of the National Academy of Engineering and a former member of the National Science Board and the Defense Science Board.
In addition, Etter held two senior executive positions in the Department of Defense. As Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Research, Development and Acquisition from 2005 through 2007, she was the Senior Acquisition Executive for the Navy and the Marine Corps. She was also the Senior Acquisition Executive for several joint programs including the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) and the Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicle (MRAP). From 1998 through 2001, Etter served as the Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Science and Technology and represented the U.S. on the NATO Research Technology Board.
Etter holds a Bachelor and Master of Science in Mathematics from Wright State University and a Doctorate in Electrical Engineering from the University of New Mexico. She is also a member of the Board of Directors at Esterline Corporation and Stantec Corporation.
