William T. Powers III
William Powers has served on the LORD Corporation Board of Directors since 2007.
Powers is CEO of the Commonwealth Center for Advanced Manufacturing (CCAM). CCAM is an applied research center that provides production-ready advanced manufacturing solutions to member companies. Members guide the research, leveraging talent and resources within CCAM and at Virginia’s top universities. CCAM’s unique model drives collaboration and ensures all members share jointly in the creation of intellectual property. Members include Alcoa, Siemens, Airbus and Rolls-Royce, as well as the University of Virginia, Virginia Tech, Old Dominion, Virginia State, and Virginia Commonwealth University. He has been a board member of CCAM since its inception in 2008.
Powers brings to CCAM successful global leadership experience as a Board Member, CEO, and Senior Financial Executive. Prior to joining CCAM, he was CFO for Rolls-Royce North American Operations, a $3 billion business with 9,000 employees. He also served as a member of the Rolls-Royce North America Holdings Board and its Government Security and Audit Committees. Previous roles with Rolls-Royce included positions based in London serving as the Chief Executive of Rolls-Royce Capital Limited, and as Director – Mergers & Acquisitions for Rolls-Royce plc.
Powers is also a member of the board of the Virginia Chamber of Commerce. He previously served on multiple non-profit boards in higher education and social service, and was also a board member at Exostar, Inc., Pembroke Group, Inc., and Rolls-Royce Partners Finance.
He is a graduate of Villanova University’s School of Business where he earned a B.S. in Economics. He also earned an MBA in Banking and Finance from the Lubin School at Pace University in New York City, NY.
