LORD Corporation Sponsors Helicopter Golf Ball Drop to Support Collision Repair Education Foundation

( 06/22/2017 )

(Cary, NC –July 19, 2017) – LORD Corporation, maker of FusorÒ Aftermarket Repair Adhesives, the leading metal and plastic bonding solution for the automotive collision repair market, is once again sponsoring the Collision Repair Education Foundation (CREF) 16th Annual Helicopter Golf Ball Drop.

To be held July 24 from 2-7 p.m. at the Harborside International Golf Center in Chicago in conjunction with NACE Automechanika Chicago 2017, the Helicopter Golf Ball Drop assists the CREF in its efforts to support high school and college collision school programs, instructors and students.

A limited number of golf balls for the event are available for $10 each (reduced from $20 last year) with a maximum of 1,200 being sold. Balls may be purchased by anyone within or outside the collision repair industry. Participants of the golf ball drop do not need to be present to win and are not required to participate in the golf tournament. The winner is determined based on a numbered ball landing closest to a pre-determined hole on the golf course, with a chance to win $6,000 if all the golf balls are sold

“The more golf balls sold, the better the prize,” says Brandon Eckenrode, director of development for CREF. “In order to encourage more interest in this event, we’ve adjusted the price this year making it accessible for everyone.”

The CREF Helicopter Golf Ball Drop has increased its funds raised from the event from netting about $19,000 in 2008 to nearly $110,000 to $120,000 annually, Eckenrode says. The CREF overall has significantly increased the amount of money it has raised from $300,000 in 2009 to more than $60 million, including in-kind and monetary donations.

“The funds raised help the foundation support about 1,000 high school and college programs combined,” Eckenrode says. “The industry is looking for qualified entry-level staff, especially because it is an aging industry. To support programs and provide the best education, we need to do anything we are able to help out instructors and students of technical education. “

LORD has sponsored the CREF Golf Fundraiser for five years and participates in the CREF’s Gift-in-Kind program with donations of products, equipment and training to collision repair schools, students and instructor to support the foundation’s education effort.

“We are pleased to be a sponsor once again and support the valuable programs and donations provided by the CREF,” says Julie Miller, Global Business Manager for Aftermarket, LORD Corporation. “The support it provides to students, instructors and technical programs and schools is invaluable to ensure the collision repair industry has well-trained, productive employees, especially with an aging workforce. We look forward to continuing to partner with the Collision Repair Education Foundation to further the industry.”
